What is TECH PLANTER and why we do it?

TECH PLANTER is an acceleration and pitch competition focusing on Deep Tech. We conduct this program to provide startups with mentoring, fundraising and market expansion opportunities in Asia, especially in Japan. Winners will receive a trip to Singapore to pursue angel investment and corporate partnerships. Leave a Nest’s science bridge communicators works with founders each and every day. We leverage our experience of launching a science and technology into business forms to ensure your team executes well every step along the way.

  • Mr. Shohei Michael MaekawaDirector, Leave a Nest Singapore Pte. Ltd.

    Mr. Maekawa is also the President of Leave a Nest UK. He was born in USA and raised in Europe. He studied Zoology for his undergraduate degree and Evolutionary Anthropology for his postgraduate degree, both at University College London. With experience aboard and passion towards advancement of science and technology, he joined Leave a Nest in 2013.

  • Dr. Eiji WatanabeGeneral Manager, Mitsui Chemicals Singapore R&D Centre, Pte. Ltd.

    The corporate mission of Mitsui Chemicals Inc. is to contribute to society by providing high-quality products and services to customers through innovations and the creation of materials and products. Dr. Watanabe is scouting new ideas and technologies related to Mitsui Chemical’s five business domains; Mobility, Health Care, Food & Packaging, Next Generation Businesses and Basic Materials. He has a strong desire to create new businesses in Southeast Asia by integrating the new innovative technologies and Mitsui Chemical’s wide variety of products.

  • Mr. Akitaka Wilhelm FujiiPresident, Real Tech Holdings, Inc.

    As President of Real Tech Holdings, Mr. Fujii drives the company’s mission to solve societal and environmental challenges through innovative deep-tech technologies. The company has four venture capital funds under management, with one specifically focusing on South East Asia. Prior to joining Real Tech Holdings, Mr. Fujii worked for EIT Climate-KIC, EU’s largest organization fostering climate innovation. He was involved in setting up several business units, led a company-wide change management program focusing on people management and managed the company’s effort to assess its climate impact. Mr. Fujii holds a Master's degree in International Studies from the University of Tokyo.

  • Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ta Minh ThanhRelationship Manager in Sun* Startups, Sun* Inc.

    It has been shown a strong belief of Dr. Thanh in Vietnamese IT young talents during his career path. Dr. Thanh joined Sun* Inc. in 2015 as a Section Manager and got his best business environment to turn his belief into action by helping startups, not only in education but also in technical mentoring. Currently, he has worked as a Leader of R&D group in their innovation research and a Relationship Manager who ensures Sun* Startups’ ecosystem be prospectively expanded in Vietnam, bringing startups more opportunities to reach success.

  • Dr. Dang My Chau (Jenny)Chief Advisor of Global Strategic Partnerships, Saigon Innovation Hub (SIHUB) and CEO Regional, Topica Edtech Group

    Dr. Dang My Chau (Jenny) is a CEO Regional of Topica Edtech Group and ​Chief Advisor of Global Strategic Partnerships - Saigon Innovation Hub​, who currently leads and manages all activities for national and international partnership since 2010. Dr. Dang has deeply involved with virtual incubation activities, as co-director of Topica Founder Institute Hochiminh City, co-organizer of Mobile Monday Hochiminh City (supported by Worldbank Infodev's Virtual Incubation grant), annual judges for incubation/entrepreneurship competitions in Asia Pacific Incubator Network (APIN), and has trained dozens of incubator managers and government officials on incubator management courses since 2012.

  • Ms. Huong NguyenCo-Founder, Entrepreneurs Hub

    Ms. Huong Nguyen is the co-founder of Entrepreneurs Hub, which support startups to develop, raise fund and expand market. Huong Nguyen has background in IT with 12 years experience in software outsourcing, then she founded an Edtech startup, and become ecosystem builder which support several techh startups in Vietnam. She often mentor startups and be jury in startup competitions in Vietnam and ASEAN region.

  • Ms. Minh Nguyen Dang TuanChief Executive Officer & Co-Founder, KisStartup

    Ms. Minh Nguyen Dang Tuan is the CEO & Cofounder of KisStartup Innovation Consulting, Coaching & Mentoring (www.kisstartup.com). Ms Minh is among 16 women leaders from 13 countries in the world selected to join Fortune - U.S. Department of State Global Women’s Mentoring Partnership. She is one of 12 Innovation Coaches (www.ipp.vn) certified by Ministry of Science and Technology of Vietnam and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland. With 13 years of experience working and researching in entrepreneurship, business development, management and digital enterprise management and startup. Ms Minh is also an author of the book “Innovation & Entrepreneurship – Mindset and Tools”.

  • Mr. Tanveer GillFounder, RT Capital

    Mr Tanveer Gill has close to 15+ years of work experience spanning Venture Capital, Private Equity and Equity Research across US, Singapore, India & Vietnam. He is the Founder of RT Capital, and also an Investor and mentor to multiple early stage start-ups in South East Asia.
