What is TECH PLANTER and why we do it?

TECH PLANTER is an acceleration and pitch competition focusing on Deep Tech (we call it Real Tech). We conduct this program to provide startups with mentoring, fundraising and market expansion opportunities in Asia, especially in Japan. Winners will receive a trip to Singapore or Japan to pursue angel investment and corporate partnerships. Leave a Nest’s science communicators works with founders each and every day. We leverage our experience of launching a science and technology into business forms to ensure your team executes well every step along the way.

Early stage startups and pre-startup researchers’ team in Robotics, IoT, Hardware, Biotech, Healthcare, Food and Agriculture and more real technologies

    Dr. Tokue is Managing Director of Leave a Nest Singapore, and Founder of Leave a Nest Malaysia. She was born in Tokyo but raised in Southeast Asia, studied bachelordegree in America and then moved to Australia for Master and PhD degree carrying out field work. Currently she is creating platform in ASEAN to nurture the nextgeneration innovators, startups involving business development partners from industry. Her dream is to one day bring a change to a world with advancement of science and technology with true understanding and appreciation for nature.

    The corporate mission of Mitsui Chemicals Inc. is to contribute to society by providing high-quality products and services to customers through innovations and the creation of materials and products. Dr. Watanabe is scouting new ideas and technologies related to Mitsui Chemical’s five business domains; Mobility, Healthcare, Food & Packaging, Next Generation Businesses and Basic Materials.     As President of Real Tech Holdings, Mr. Fujii drives the company’s mission to solve societal and environmental challenges through innovative deep-tech technologies. The company has four venture capital funds under management, with one specifically focusing on South East Asia. Prior to joining Real Tech Holdings, Mr. Fujii worked for EIT Climate-KIC, EU’s largest organization fostering climate innovation. He was involved in setting up several business units, led a company-wide change management program focusing on people management and managed the company’s effort to assess its climate impact. Mr. Fujii holds a Master's degree in International Studies from the University of Tokyo.

He moved to the department driving open innovation four years ago and exploring new technologies to upgrade their products and services for future market.

He is also a Fellow of the Edmund Hillary Fellowship (EHF), and has been named as one of Forbes Asia 30 Under 30: Enterprise Technology, and Thailand Startup Enabler of The Year 2016.

He led corporate teams of regional public affairs professionals to implement successful advocacy and brand programs across Southeast Asia. Fascinated by the pace and impact of technologies, Ohm left Coca-Cola and joined HUBBA, Thailand-based ecosystem builder, as its first Chief Strategy Officer and Corporate Innovation Director. He has worked on strategic planning and formulating new financial support mechanisms to promote innovation project for more than 10 years and undertaking a leading role in driving new innovative development in industries, including ethanol production from agricultural waste and lean automation with international collaboration.

    Deep Tech Partnership manager at SCG, which is one of the largest industrial conglomerates in Thailand with more than 100 years history covering three main business units, Chemicals, Building Material, and Packaging. My team is responsible for two main tasks. 1) Deep Tech corporate venture capital and 2) Start-up partnership. We are actively looking for direct investment in early stage deep tech start-up globally in the sector that is related to SCG’s business. Beside investment, we are eager to work& partner with promising start-ups to help them grow and at the same time strengthen SCG’s business.

    Theme: Production of Microcrystalline Cellulose with zero waste and low emission. Issues: Lack of green product in biorefinery & waste materials from sugar cane burning causing environmental issues. Solution: Novel microbes and enzymes for development of greener production processes. Uniqueness: Green production technology which allow to yield 90% of Multicrystalline Cellulose.

  • Thilium

    Theme: Silica Aerogel: A High-Performance Multifunctional Material Issues: Devising more effective energy saving materials (thermal insulation) Solution: Aerogel structure consisting of >90% air, which is a very good property for heat and cold insulation. Uniqueness: Method of Silica Aerogel forms spherical-shaped particles which increases reflection of light and heat from coated Surface.

  • IQmed Innovation

    Theme: Beating Heart in a Box Issues: Issue of damaged heart (in terms of the condition) when preserved in cold storage. Solution: Portable active heart transportation based on Langendroff method. Uniqueness: heart is still beating in the box. Smaller in size and less complicated, sensors to track vitality of heart

  • Fling

    Theme: Drone as a service for unmanned inspection and delivery. Issues: Eliminate Manual Error, Increase Safety for workers Solution: Drone and software to fly autonomously around a warehouse scanning pallet tags, drone deliveries (first and only co in thailand) Uniqueness: System uses ultra wideband.

  • Factorium CMMS

    Theme: Factorium CMMS, a next generation of machine maintenance with mobile application and industrial IoT. Characteristics: Issues: Difficulties in maintenance and management of equipment and operations in factories result in profit loss Solution: Development of a mobile app and machine vibration tracker IoT with AI system to predict machine failure for factory 4.0 Uniqueness: Strong engineering team

  • UB SAVE

    Theme: Solar power hybrid aerator Issues: Energy requirements for waste water treatment Solution: UB SAVE Multi-blend air into wastewater to double the transfer efficiency of oxygen for wastewater treatment. Uniqueness: The injection of oxygen 50% more efficient and cheaper compared to competitors, working with physics, not against.

  • HydroZitLa

    Theme: Innovative medicinal beverage HydroZitLa for preventing kidney stone disease Issues: Kidney stone disease is very painful and even though the population of people is only 17% in Thailand, anyone in the world could get it. Moreover, this disease can be prevented. Solution: Functional drink for preventing kidney stone formation (FDA approved as functional drink Uniqueness: Unique formulation combining both traditional and modern medicine to block the chemical reaction that forms kidney stones in the body.

  • TEAnity

    Theme: Bio-adsorbent product for environment Characteristics: Issues: Heavy metal ion content in waste Solution: Microfiber from pineapple leaf and also the technology for fiber modification Uniqueness: technology to extract fibre from pineapple leaf and to modify according to the needs of final product.

  • Eden Agritech Co., Ltd

    Theme: The natural way to maintain Freshness Characteristics: Issues: Over-ripening of fruits during transport Solution: Edible film formulated from natural ingredients for coating fresh produce. Uniqueness: The formation of film on the fruit surface when it touches air.
