16 Alumni Teams of TECH PLANTER Gathered @ TECH PLANTER MEETUP in MALAYSIA 2017

TECH PLANTER MEETUP in MALAYSIA : A New Milestone for TECH PLANTER in MALAYSIA !

It was only three years ago when Leave a Nest Malaysia Sdn.Bhd. started TECH PLANTER scheme in Malaysia.

On last 15th August 2017, we have successfully conducted the inaugural TECH PLANTER MEETUP in MALAYSIA 2017 in celebrating our new milestone, the 3rd year of organizing TECH PLANTER Scheme. For this year meetup, we were successfully gathered 16 teams of our TECH PLANTER alumni to attend, present and showcase their product and progress since TECH PLAN DEMO DAY. This meetup also joined by our international and local corporate partners, government agencies and universities' representatives that always give full supports to our program.

Here are some of highlighted activities during the program :

1. OPENING REMARKS by LEAVE A NEST MALAYSIA, MANAGING DIRECTOR

Ms. Nami Akinaga, the Managing Director of Leave a Nest Malaysia opened the ceremony by sharing on the overview of Leave a Nest Malaysia and also the vision of TECH PLANTER. She shared how Tech Planter will be the best platform to bridge academia-industry and accelerate real-tech startups.

2. PRESENTATION OF TECH PLANTER CONSORTIUM
 During the opening ceremony, Leave a Nest Asia's President, Dr.Kihoko announced on the idea of TECH PLANTER CONSORTIUM idea where Leave a Nest would like to connect Malaysia's universities to the globe through TECH PLANTER platform. From this consortium, it will be a great opportunity for Malaysian's researchers to connect with other researchers from all over the world!

3. SPECIAL REMARKS FROM LEAVE A NEST GROUP CEO

We were very excited to have a special remarks from CEO of Leave a Nest Group, Dr.Yukihiro Maru where he shared his experiences of building up Leave a Nest and also shared one of his success story which he helped euglena, a superfoods manufacturer company to accelerate their growth from a startup level to IPO in only 10 years. He would like to share the experience and create the similar result to each country that we organise TECH PLANTER.

4. SPECIAL KEYNOTE PRESENTATION

As a keynote presentation, we brought a CEO, Mr.Abe from a successful Japan's drone ventures, CLUE, Inc. which in Japan, they set up a drone funds together with Leave a Nest. They shared their great expertise in drone technology.

5. TECH PLANTER ALUMNI PRESENTATION

ACeT Innovates Sdn.Bhd., the winner of TECH PLANTER MALAYSIA 2017 and the runner up winner of TECH PLANTER ASIA pacific opened the Tech Planter alumni presentation slots with a powerful presentation of their technology and also sharing how they got a wonderful experience in TECH PLANTER scheme.

Then, 6 teams of TECH PLANTER alumni were given the chance to present their progress and also share their experience of participating in TECH PLANTER. Some of them said their gratitude to Leave a Nest that serve TECH PLANTER platform which opened their eyes to a new perspective of their business.

6. EXHIBITION

After networking lunch, all guest and visitors had the chances to visit exhibition from our corporate partners and TECH PLANTER Alumni. Chemical Company of Malaysia which is the Platinum Partner for TECH PLANTER MEETUP this year also exhibited some of their products based on Polymers. We also have the exhibition from Hamano Products and CLUE, Inc where they exhibited Details info of their business and products.

7. PANEL DISCUSSION: “Bridging Malaysian's Startups with Japan Super Factories”

One of the most exciting slots during the meetup is the Panel Discussion session that discussed on “Bridging Malaysian's startups with Japan Super Factories”. We have a special appearance from Japan Super Factory, Mr.Kowaka, the global account manager of Hamano Products Co,.Ltd. The discussion was very exciting and fruitful with deep discussion on problems faced by university's startups and the possible solution that could be offered by Japan Super Factories.

Asia Yoshinoya International is a strong Leave a Nest partner. They have participated in three (3) grant projects with Leave a Nest Group and continue to extend their warm support even for Leave a Nest program outside Japan such as in TECH PLANTER MEETUP Malaysia 2017.

In this event, Leave a Nest graciously received 110 bowls of Asia Yoshinoya International’s signature beef and chicken dish in a unique and beautifully decorated container for Networking Lunch. The TECH PLANTER MEETUP Malaysia 2017 is a great platform for Asia Yoshinoya International to introduce and promote their food product which is also halal. We hope to see higher number of participants in our future program and to work together with Asia Yoshinoya International again in giving exposure of its brand and experience to more people.

This inaugural TECH PLANTER MEETUP in MALAYSIA 2017 was only a kickoff to a bigger TECH PLANTER next year. We are looking forward to working with passionate corporates and government agencies to nurture seed technologies from academia to be delivered to the world!
