University of Santo Tomas propels deep tech innovation as the official University Partner for TECH PLANTER in the Philippines 2024
2024/03/19Leave a Nest Philippines announces that the TECH PLANTER program’s 8th year of implementation here in the Philippines will be conducted in collaboration with the Pontifical and Royal University of Santo Tomas through the initiative of the university’s innovation center, TOMASInno Center.
With the TECH PLANTER in the Philippines program hoping to become the leading industry-initiated builder of a robust and supportive Filipino deep tech ecosystem, this partnership with University of Santo Tomas provides an avenue for more university research teams, startups, and individual innovators to showcase the local homegrown technologies that are anchored towards solving social issues rampant within the Philippines and beyond. As part of this partnership, the culminating event of the TECH PLANTER in the Philippines, which is the TECH PLAN Demo Day in the Philippines 2024, will officially be conducted in the Auditorium of the newly-built 22-storey Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati Building of University of Santo Tomas along España Boulevard, Sampaloc, Manila City. This program will be attended by partners from the industry, government, and academe locally and from the global ecosystems as the Filipino technology builders pitch their deep tech innovations.
This strives to build momentum towards achieving the mutual goals of Leave a Nest Philippines and University of Santo Tomas. It also marks the 2nd major program that UST and LVNS PH have co-organized after conducting the Hyper Interdisciplinary Conference in the Philippines 2024 last November 2024 at the Benavides Hall Auditorium, UST. Through this university-enterprise collaboration, both the University of Santo Tomas and Leave a Nest Philippines hopes to bring the limelight towards a nurturing support systems for deep tech researchers and startups and putting forth the TECH PLANTER program together #Strongerat8th
TECH PLANTER in the Philippines 2024 Application Details
If you are a Philippine-based research team or startup that has ideated or developed a technology that addresses social issues, we are inviting you to utilize the last few days of registration. Mainly, applicants usually come from the following verticals: agritech, biotech, ecotech, food tech, lifetech/health-tech, marine tech, edu-tech or other technology verticals as long as it strongly addresses deep social issues.
All interested research teams or startups are allowed to submit their applications until March 20, 2024 23:59 (GMT +8) through the official TECH PLANTER application form (Link: https://en.techplanter.com/TPASIA2024Reg). Kindly note that applications are done through the Leave a Nest ID platform so interested applicants must first create and login to their Leave a Nest ID account to access the form.
About TOMASInno Center
The TOMASInno Center (TIC) is the Technology Business Incubator (TBI) of the University of Santo Tomas (UST) which was established in August 2019 with the support of the Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD). TIC serves as a hub for innovation and technopreneurship within and beyond the university ecosystem with services for Thomasians and non-Thomasian students, researchers, and alumni in various areas. The TOMASInno Center has been involved in several Leave a Nest Philippines programs like Hyper Interdisciplinary Conference in the Philippines 2024, as co-organizers, and the DOST-SEI’s Project SET Demo Day, where they awarded 5 undergraduate teams to be part of their incubation program.
